Egg in a hole!?!

We have some really good friends that live about 30 minutes away from us.  Our children love to play together and we really enjoy spending time with them.  A few weeks ago they were at our house and she was talking about one of her favorite meals-egg in a hole.  They are from Southern California, so we are always talking about the different "cultures" we come from:)  We were eager to know what this was.  As she described it you could see Nathan's mouth watering---dying to try it.

It is best with sourdough bread-which unfortunately we can't get here-but we have made do with what we have and it has become a favorite.  Basically you take a piece of bread and butter on both sides, then cut a small hole out of the middle (about the size of an egg yolk).  You then grill the bread on one side slightly, then flip.  Here comes the good part-you than crack the egg and put it in the hole-cook it to your liking and then flip it.  The egg cooks into the bread and it sooooo yummy! (We can't wait to try it with sourdough bread!)

Trying things new sometimes leads to new favorites!
